“The Rocket Man” Is King of Kwinana

Last weekend at the Perth Motorplex “The Rocket Man” driving the Worldwide Machinery/Royal Wolf/Valvoline/Genesis Shocks/Hoosier/Rocket #12 took victory in the 2008 King of Kwinana.

With a two night show ahead of the team supporting the Sprintcar King of the Wings Craig & the team knew tyre choice & track conditions would pay a big part in the outcome of the weekend.

The prelim heats on the Friday night started well for the #12 with a 16th starting position and allowing the rest of the field to settle the Worldwide Machinery/Royal Wolf/Valvoline/Genesis Shocks/Hoosier/Rocket made his way through traffic and when the checker dropped he crossed in 5th position. Heat 2 had Craig on the second row and this would allow Craig the chance to grab valuable points towards the feature race on the Sat night. He quickly grabbed the lead and was never headed & completed the 12 lap journey in fast record pace to secure a win & fifth for night 1.

On the Saturday night Craig’s heat race had him again in mid pack and he quickly made his way through the 17 car strong field to finish in second position behind the ever improving Kevin Bell from Busselton. Feature time & “The Rocket Man” would have a front row start with Ex Pilkington Glass team mate Kevin Bell, as the greens came on it was obvious to the crowd that craig was on a mission to claim his second King of Kwinana, with the 20 lap main event hampered by restarts he managed to hold his lead during the race and score his second victory in the #12 Rocket.

“Big Bad Bert” had a weekend he would rather forget, he again shot out of the block and had victory in sight but due to a mechanical failure he wasn’t able to complete the weekend, he will be back for the next TVR race meeting.

After the race Craig had this to say “It was great to have a victory tonight for our loyal bunch of sponsors, Brian is here tonight from Worldwide Machinery as is Gary McNamara from Valvoline, if it wasn’t for these guys we wouldn’t be able to put the shows on we do each week, I would also like to thank all our other sponsors for Team Vosbergen racing as well. I would again like to thank my crew Adam, jay, Brent & Bazz for their efforts on this car & with our whole team, and finally thanks to Nicola, Brooke 7 Brent for being by my side each & every week”

Craig Vosbergen now holds a 30 point lead in the Kart World Belmont Pro Dirt Points standings with two point’s rounds to go.

The next outing for Team Vosbergen Racing with be the second annual “Rumble on the River” at Margaret River Speedway march 22nd & 23rd.
