Vosbergen Survives WA Title Warfare To Claim Fourth

Craig Vosbergen driving the Worldwide Machinery/Valvoline/Hoosier Tyre/Rocket at the WA Dirt Late Model Title last saturday survived a night of severe carnage to come home in 4th position after coming from the back twice.

The night got off to a flying start for TVR with a recorded win in his first up heat race with a clear win by 1/3 of a lap. From there things got tough for TVR.

Visiting US Driver Doug Drown made his way out for his first heat race and put in 4 of the most outstanding laps i have ever witnessed only to pull up with mechanical failure which would end his night. The team were straight back to the workshop fixing the problems and making sure the USA#12 will be ready for this weeks Australian Dirt Late Model Nationals at the Perth Motorplex.

The elder statesman of the team "Big Bad Bert" Vosbergen would also have a great run in the heats in the #4 Worldwide Machinery/Valvoline/Hoosier/Rocket. Bert had a rear start in heat 1 to finish 3rd and followed that up with a fourth from his second heat after being controversially sent rear of field at the start of the race. "Big Bad Bert" as he is know to his fans let the stewards know of his disappointment but continued to fight for a well earned 4th place.

His final was just as exciting with his new Rocket finding all the fast lines around the race track, with vision so hard due to the dust problems at the circuit, Bert persisted to give the top 4 a good run, after an incident in which Bert was left with a flat LF tyre, he pulled the car infield and sat the rest of the main event out.

During the final for the WA Dirt LAte Model Championship one guy gave himself a chance even out of 13th position. Craig Vosbergen had his hot rod right on song from the word go, his machine found the right lines up near the wall and picked off cars lao after lap. By lap 15 he was up into 3rd position challenging for second when he propped, got back on the gas but was deemed to have caused the restart and was again controversially sent to the rear of the field. This would see Craig back in 17th position with 18 laps to go and to no ones surprise he was back up in the mix of it as far as second with a lap to go. His Worldwide Machinery/Valvoline/Hoosier/Rocket got a push on the last lap and two of the NSW drivers got through for second & third places & "The Rocket Man" Craig Vosbergen was the first WA car home to finish fourth.

This week Team Vosbergen will be at the Perth Motorplex on Wednesday Night for practice, Thursday at the LMRA Calcutta at the Rivervale Hotel everybody welcome & friday & Sunday at the Perth Motorplex for the Australian Dirt LAte Model Nationals.
