TVR Motorplex Opener – 23rd October 2010 The TVR crew rocked up to the Motorplex for their season opening with Craig’s #8 Late Model & Bert’s new #4 Super Sedan looking for a strong showing in both divisions. After the first round of heats it was evident that the racing surface was at the motorplex was going to prove difficult to manage with the track being rough and plenty of the black “Gumbo” mud flyin through the air and getting trapped under the cars. The TVR crew were kept busy scraping in excess of a 100kg’s of mud of the cars each time the returned from the racetrack. Despite the adverse track conditions “Big Bad Bert” in his new Super Sedan ride fresh out of the transporter managed a 2nd & 4th in the first 2 races albeit sometimes 4 wheels in the air!! BBB started position 3 in the final race of the night and was running a strong 3rd when the left rear tire peeled off the inner bead after one of his rough landings. Although disappointed he didn’t finish on the podium, he came away confident that there is plenty of improvement left in the Sweet Chassis and is now looking ahead to the next event. Craig in the #8 Rocket Late Model had a consistent night finishing a 4th & 5th in the heat races just trying to keep the car straight through the rutty track and stay away from the bigger holes. Starting position 3 in the final race finished up with a podium spot in 3rd. Craig was happy with this result given the trying conditions. Both TVR cars this week will have the suspension stripped out of them and fully checked for any fatigued and broken components, the Genesis shocks will be dynoed and checked at the RACIN Tyres shop to ensure they are still in good shape and then look ahead to the next event at the Motorplex on November 6th.
